$7 ages 10 and up, $4 under 10

Please RSVP by Wed., May 25th if you plan to attend so we can order enough food. Email gpyc@charter.net or click the reservation button at the bottome of this post.  Please include how many people over 10 and under 10 will be joining you.

Please make sure you have your member update turned in and pool pictures taken prior to Memorial Day if you are planning on attending this event.

The pool can get crowded on holidays – please be respectful of how many chairs you lay your belongings on and only reserve chairs for family members who will be sitting.  Also feel free to bring additional folding chairs.

Please remain poolside for the moment of silence, then we will proceed to the Gazebo for the Blessing of the  Fleet.

3:15 pm – Memorial Service & Blessing of the Fleet (Gazebo)
After the Moment of Silence, we plan to have a piper lead us from the Club to the Gazebo, where we will have a short memorial service, lead by Pr. Tina Melusky of Trinity Lutheran Church in Newport News. At the conclusion of that service, those who wish can take their boat out, gathering where the Pagan and Jones Creeks merge, then passing by Tuscarora (in dock slip 59) and receiving a blessing for the vessel and crew.  Also, if you are unable to take your boat out, Pr. Melusky will come to your boat if you wish a blessing offered.

* If you do not keep your boat at GPYC but would like to bring it over to have it blessed – please let us know and we will try and find docking space for you.  Kayaks, Canoes, Paddle Boards, etc. are also welcome to be part of the blessing.

If you are planning on having your boat blessed – PLEASE let Frank Brown know so he can generate a roster of participants to help Pr. Melusky properly name the boat. Frank can be reached at frank.brown915@gmail.com or at 757-472-4178.

The Pool and Club are open 11 am – 6 pm Memorial Day.
The kitchen will only be open from 3-5:45 pm.

REMINDER: You must have your Membership Update completed and pictures taken before you will be admitted to the pool.  Every GPYC family needs to complete an update form every year.  THANKS!!!!
